Symptoms of pistachio root tuberculosis nematode damage

Symptoms on aerial parts are not enough to diagnose Iranian Pistachio the nematode problem, and for accurate diagnosis, root and soil samples should be examined in the laboratory. However, in appearance, it causes symptoms similar to those caused by nutrient deficiencies, but causes tuber formation on the roots.

Severely infected roots are shorter than healthy roots, and infected roots are not well able to absorb water and nutrients. Hence, the growth and development of trees is reduced, and as a result, the amount of fruiting and the amount of crop are reduced. This reduction in growth and yield reduction is directly related to the density of nematode population in the soil as well as the age of trees and soil type.
