How to dry pears
First method: drying pears in the sun
The most basic and common method of drying fruit is using sunlight. In this method, we will do the following steps:
 
To dry the pear fruit, we choose a warm, sunny day when the air humidity is below 60% and the weather is sunny and warm. The process of drying the fruit takes several days, so it is necessary that the weather is clear and warm for several days in a row. Then we wash the pears well and slice them and remove the core.
After slicing the fruits, we place them on a stainless steel net or fiberglass tray with Teflon coating and arrange them on the net with a little distance from each other.
The fruit tray is placed on two bricks so that it is away from the ground, and we throw a thin net on it and place it under the sun. Placing the tray on the brick makes the air flow better and dries the fruit faster.
To speed up the drying process of the pears, we place an aluminum sheet under the tray. Cool night air can re-moisten the fruits; To prevent this, we leave the fruits in the kitchen at night and put them in the sunlight again the next moing.
We visit the fruits every few days and then collect the shriveled and crunchy fruits.

Second method: drying pears by oven
We prepare the desired pears and wash them with cold water and remove the stained parts and cores.
Cut the fruits in the same size so that they dry in the same time.
Then we remove the skin of the fruits. For this purpose, put the pear pieces in boiling water for 30 seconds and then transfer them to a container of ice water. With this, the skin of the pears is easily removed.
To preserve the appearance of the pears and to minimize their color change, we put them in a solution of lemon juice and water for 10 minutes; Then pour it in a colander and dry it gently with a lint-free towel.
We set the oven in advance at a temperature of 53 to 71 degrees Celsius. We cover the oven tray with wax paper and arrange the fruit pieces keeping the distance.
We put a round net for pizza or a silicone liner to prevent the fruits from gathering on them.
Then we put the pear slices in the oven and rotate the oven tray every two hours. When the pears have a leathery texture and are flexible, they are ready to be taken out of the oven.
After taking the dried fruits out of the oven, we pour them into plastic or glass containers and leave the lid of the container open for 5 days to evaporate the remaining moisture. Dried pears can be used for 10-12 months.
